Spruce Lamp Shade

Bare bulbs and hot rooms do not go together. You want light you can sit under, not light you squint past.

This is a half cylinder of thin spruce that goes over the fitting and turns it into something softer. Curved bands stack one over the next, each standing slightly proud of the one below, so the light comes out in horizontal strips and the rest of it glows through the wood itself.

The flat back sits against the wall or into a corner. Two slim uprights carry the bands, and there is nothing else to it.

It is a shade, so it does no work of its own. It just decides what the light does after it leaves the bulb.
