Sauna Duckboard, Wide Slat

A wet floor is the part of a sauna nobody photographs and everybody stands on. Barefoot, on boards that stay damp between sessions.

This duckboard lifts you off it. Five wide slats on two runners, so air moves underneath and the floor dries instead of staying wet. The slats are set into the runners rather than screwed on top, which is slower to make and means there is no fastener head under your foot and nothing to work loose as the wood moves.

Wide slats rather than narrow ones is a deliberate choice: more surface under the arch of your foot, fewer edges. It reads calmer underfoot than a fine-ribbed grate.

Built in Graham, Washington by hand, one at a time, after you order it. Allow about two weeks before it ships.
