Black Bucket and Ladle Set

Water on the stones is the whole point of the room. Everything before it is preparation.

This is what carries the water. A straight-walled pail in matte black with a bent bamboo bow handle, and the ladle that goes with it.

The handle is one continuous bamboo bow pinned to two black brackets on opposite sides of the rim, each riveted flat to the wall with a pair of rivets. It pivots, so it stands up when you lift and falls back out of the way when you set the pail down. Bamboo is there because it stays comfortable to hold in a hot room, not for looks.

The wall is smooth and straight-sided, and the finish is a flat matte black that does not throw glare back under a low sauna light.

The ladle matches it: a straight-sided cup on a short black shaft, with a long bamboo grip so your hand stays well back when you pour.

Fill it before the room comes up to heat, and leave it near the stones so the water is not cold when you use it.
