Aroma Stone Cup

Scent behaves differently in heat. It moves faster, and it leaves sooner.

This is a small cup of solid stone that sits down among the heater stones and holds a little water with a few drops of oil in it. The stone comes up to temperature with the room rather than sitting cold on top of it, so what is inside warms gradually instead of flashing off the moment it lands.

It is turned from one piece and hollowed from the top. There is no handle, no spout and no fitting of any kind. The outside is left rough and unpolished, so it reads as stone rather than as a vessel, and the rim is a narrow flat band cut level across the top.

It is small. It sits in a closed hand, about the size of a hen's egg, and it disappears among the stones once it is in place.

Fill it, set it in the heat, and leave it there.
